The Food Pyramid
Being a healthy person is important because it allows us to feel and look good and keep ourselves in outstanding conditions. It is vital because that way we prevent serious diseases and our bodies are able to perform all of our activities in the best way possible.
Having a healthy diet is easy if you use the food pyramid for yourself! However, your mind has to be in “healthy mode” so you can start living healthy. The food pyramid says a healthy diet is mainly composed by fruits, vegetables, whole grains and seeds. Mother Nature has given all of her best products for us to eat and be healthy people.
Don’t ever think about getting into one of those fads “Hollywood” diets, like Atkins, Zone, soup or fruits diets. They are illogical precisely because they ask you to stop eating certain type of important nutrients that our bodies need, and increasing the portions of other nutrients. The food pyramid does not discriminate any of those nutrients, because all of them are significant. You might lose weight, but will be unhealthy.
This is a quick view of the food pyramid, organized in the order of importance:
1.Grains (specially whole grains)
2.Vegetables, especially dark green and orange vegetables, dry beans and peas
3.Fruits, based on variety and deemphasizing fruit juices
4.Oils, specially fish, nut, and vegetables sources
5.Milk, a category that includes fluid milk and many other milk-based products
6.Meat and beans emphasizing in low-fat and lean meats like fish, more beans, peas, nuts, and seeds.
Remember: you are what you eat. The food pyramid will allow you to eat healthy and feel good. So, do you still doubt?
